Sermons from March 2025
Open Doors, Open Hearts, Open Souls – Welcoming the Stranger
In a world that often divides us, the call to embrace those who are different from us is not just a suggestion; it is a command rooted deeply in scripture. This command is not merely about hospitality; it is about recognizing our shared humanity. Jesus identifies Himself with the immigrant, the marginalized. When we welcome the stranger, we are not just serving them; we are serving Christ Himself. – Govans’ Minister for Racial Justice and Multicultural Engagement, Lea Gilmore’s sermon…
Repentance: An Important Key to the Kingdom
Death is a common denominator for every living being. Only repentance can bring about eternal life and true repentance involves a major change in one’s spiritual direction. Jesus illustrates the parable of the fig tree to warn us that judgement comes to those who do not repent. – Rev. Dr. Ron Hankins’ sermon from March, 23, 2025.
Protecting the Sacrifice
As Abram presented a sacrifice before the Lord, he had to protect the sacrifice by chasing away the vultures. As we journey through this season of self-examination and sacrifice, we also must beware of the attacks which may come upon our sacrifices made to the Lord. – Rev. Dr. Ron Hankins’ sermon from March 16, 2025 (Zoom worship)
A Disciplined Heart
Satan is cunning and persistent in his efforts to tempt believers into sin, especially during times of transition and weakness. Christ gives us all an example of discipline and resistance by standing firm on the Word of God – Rev. Dr. Ron Hankins sermon from March 9, 2025 (Zoom worship)
A Glimpse Into Future Glory – Transfiguration Sunday
Jesus gives 3 of His disciples, and ultimately every believer, a glimpse of the Kingdom of God and its future glory. The transfiguration of Christ along with the glowing appearance of Moses and Elijah (who have been gone for hundreds of years), should heighten the hopes of every believer about the future glory that awaits us beyond this life. – Rev. Dr. Ron Hankins sermon from March 2, 2025.
