Myra Brosius, Working Group member, will present results of her research on the 19th century history of Govans Presbyterian Church, through a case study of Robert Galbraith, Govans’ minister who led us in the years leading up to and through the Civil War. There are so many fascinating and thought-provoking stories, from the families of founding benefactors splitting over the Civil War, and on to Galbraith’s preaching to the enslaved population at the Hampton plantation and the resulting racially-charged Baltimore County scandal that appears in the archives of the National Park Service.
This event will take place in the Waverly Room at Govans and live on Zoom. See the link in the weekly email (subscribe here) or email wilson@govanspres.org.
