Missy holds an Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Loyola University of Maryland and a Master of Arts Certificate in Instructional Systems Development from University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Her certificates in the Pedagogy of Online Learning and Culturally Responsive Teaching provide a unique skill set for the demands of 21st century classrooms and conversations. Her undergraduate degree is in Psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She is the Founder of Universe Consulting and Design LLC, and partners with organizations and spiritual communities to discuss racial justice, equity, and reparations with training and professional development. Culture and creativity merge in every facet of her art and professional work.
Missy Smith is also a singer/songwriter and creative professional. She has over 2 decades of experience as a performer, educator, host, and event planner. She has worked in tech, start-ups, higher education, and nonprofit spaces. In that time, she has also released several albums of original lyrical and instrumental music, solo and with bandmates and open mic performers in the Baltimore music community. Her genres range from soul and country to hip hop and gospel.
