Maundy Thursday

Music Sunday: Behold, the Lamb

Beginning with a Palm Sunday Procession into the sanctuary, the service will continue with a series of readings and anthems centered around the theme, ‘Behold, the lamb of God.” There will be beautiful prayers from the Iona community followed by classic anthems of the Passion composed by some of our greatest musicians: Mozart, Faure, Tchaikovsky, and John Ferguson. Join us for Poem Sunday! You are invited to bring a poem to share during the service. Both children and adults are encouraged to share a poem. Poems may be shared live in-person or live or pre-recorded via Zoom. They can be on any topic and do not have to be specifically religious. Songs are also welcome. Lenten Study of Jesus and the Disinherited

Join Rev. Kevin Johnson and Pastor Tom Harris on Tuesday evenings in Lent for a deep dive into this theological classic. In the forward Vincent Harding writes, “Jesus and the Disinherited is the centerpiece of the Black prophet-mystic’s lifelong attempt to bring the harrowing beauty of the African American experience into deep engagement with what he called ‘the religion of Jesus’. Community Kickball with Young Families

Community kickball and outdoor games have returned to Alhambra Park. The first Saturday of each month, Govans Presbyterian Church and other local Presbyterian congregations gather for games and refreshments with our neighbors at Alhambra Park (5200 Alhambra Avenue) from 10:30 am to noon.
