Bridge Pastor Job Description

About the Position

Govans Presbyterian Church, a Matthew 25 congregation, is seeking a full-time bridge pastor to serve on site while the process to call a permanent pastor is underway. This role requires a flexible schedule of 40 hours per week, adjusted according to the needs of the congregation and staff.

Worship Leadership

The bridge pastor will be responsible for preaching at least two Sunday worship services each month at 10:30 AM. For the remaining Sundays, the pastor may coordinate with the Worship and Music Committee to arrange for guest speakers to lead the service.

Administrative and Leadership Responsibilities

  • Act as moderator for the session which is made up of 11 elected elders
  • Moderate congregational meetings as needed.
  • Provide administrative leadership and support to church committees.
  • Serve as a liaison to both Govans Preschool and the Senior Network of North Baltimore (SNNB), both of which operate on the church campus.

Congregational Life and Values

Govans Presbyterian Church is home to a diverse congregation with an average worship attendance of approximately 75 – 100 people, including both in-person and online participants. The church is committed to being an LGBTQ+ affirming and anti-racist community.

Desired Candidate Qualifications

  • Possess a shepherd’s heart, visitation, and strong people management skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to support and unify the congregation during this period of transition.

Compensation

  • Compensation is a minimum of $88,870 annualized salary plus benefits
